Learning from Seeds Swap & Talk
Let’s learn from seeds!
We’re excited to co-host AWARE’s annual Seed Swap from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Community Room on April 25, followed by our presentation from Emily Hannah at 6 p.m. Say goodbye to buying packs of seeds when you only need a few! Bring your partially used seed packs and trade to grow new flowers and foods at home.
In this talk, Regenerative Farmer Emily Hannah will cover the basics of seed starting, what successional planting is, and the importance of seed saving. We will explore the concept of seeds as the cornerstone of food security and talk about the importance of heirloom seeds for genetic resiliency and diversity in a changing world. There will be time for a Q&A following the presentation.
Registration is required for this event! Email publicservices@whistlerlibrary.ca to sign up. If you’d like to submit questions ahead of the event, please send them to Jeanette at jbruce@whistlerlibrary.ca!
This program is presented in partnership with AWARE Whistler. Did you know that we have a Seed Library? Located with the gardening books, the Whistler Seed Library is a partnership program between AWARE Whistler and Whistler Public Library. All Whistler residents are welcome to contribute and take seeds home. No library card needed!
