WAITLIST SPOTS AVAILABLE: Spring Bear Update with Michael Allen

Please note: this session is full, but we’re still taking names for the waitlist! Email publicservices@whistlerlibrary.ca and let us know your name and phone number to be added to the list.

Independent researcher Michael Allen is back at WPL for his annual Spring Bear Update. Michael will share last winter’s bear, moose, and mountain lion activities, then shift his focus to the behavior of spring bears – from rub trees, known-bear survival, and reproductive status of female black and grizzly bears.

Michael will also give us an update on Slumber, Whistler’s oldest known male black bear at 27 years old!

2024 marks the 31st year of field research in the Sea to Sky Corridor, and the 26th year of education outreach. The goal of this monitoring is to maintain permanent and seasonal camera traps that help determine known bear survival and fitness across a rapidly changing landscape.

Registration is required! Email publicservices@whistlerlibrary.ca to sign up, max two spots per person. Please provide a name and email address for your plus one!

The event is finished.
