Money Matters Fall Series

Session One:  Introduction to finance (September 20)

This session provides a foundation from which you can build your financial knowledge.  We start at the beginnings of money and move towards your understanding the Canadian financial system.  The three big points:

  • Money, Income & Wealth
  • Interest rates
  • Fifty Shades of Debt

Session Two:  Personal Finance - a behavioural approach (October 18)

Let's get personal.  Each individual has her own priorities, desires and financial goals.  Instead of just telling you to pack a lunch and quit going out for coffee, we look at the behaviours and outcomes that affect your financial present and future. The three big points:

  • Where does your money go?
  • Understanding Financial Behaviour
  • Setting your goals

Session Three:  Borrowing and Financial Institutions (November 22)

For most people, borrowing is a fact of life.  Whether a home mortgage, car loan or credit card, everyone should understand how borrowing and lending works, and how to make it work for you!  Three big points are:

  • How Banks Work
  • Understanding your credit score
  • How to get the best deal
